Hi, I’m Kat, the maker behind PlaidPandaz.

I’ve always loved cute, character-based creations, but somewhere along the way I started wanting them to have a little more personality… and a little more sass. Now I spend my time creating crochet pieces that feel like little friends you can adopt, each with their own unique vibe.

I got into crochet while binge watching YouTube during long days of bedside care. I fell in love with amigurumi pretty quickly, but I wanted to make things that felt more like me. A lot of my inspiration comes from my mom, who ran her own sewing businesses. She’s a big part of why I create, and part of why I started selling my work in the first place.

I’ve spent a lot of my life in the role of taking care of others. I’m a full-time at-home caretaker for my sister, and crochet became something that was just mine. This shop is not only a way for me to build something for my future, but also a way to grow confidence in myself and my work.

Everything I make is completely handmade by me, and I put a lot of time into the details. If something doesn’t feel right, I’ll redo it over and over until it does. Some pieces take a day, others take months, but every single one gets that same level of care.

Most of what I create are cute crochet stuffed animals, with a mix of humor and personality woven in. Some are soft and sweet, some are a little more unexpected, but all of them are made to make you feel something, whether that’s a laugh, a smile, or even a little bit of embarrassment.

No two pieces I make are ever exactly the same. Some may look similar, but there will always be differences, because no two people are the same, and neither are any of the things I create.

Outside of crochet, I also enjoy diamond painting and woodburning, and I’m always finding new ways to stay creative. My favorite color is bright green, and fun fact: I’ve never actually made anything plaid or panda-themed, despite the name.

Looking ahead, I’d love to start doing themed drops and offering more one-of-a-kind pieces, especially detailed custom dolls. My goal is for everything I make to feel like a little buddy you can connect with, something personal, fun, and made just for you.
